Ree's Diary

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon Me, and ye shall go and pray unto Me and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek Me and find Me when ye shall search for Me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29: 11-14

Artist

Excerpt from “Love Letters to God”

Psalm 50:2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.

Dear God,

There are several artists in my family. Most of us have been blessed with some amount of creativity, by pallet or pen, others by instruments of carpentry or music. It’s quite something to measure the excellence with which each of my siblings achieve in their rightful medium, and a testament to the gifts handed down from generation to generation.

It’s even more awesome to realize these gifts are inherited from You, for we are each created in Your image. Whatever achievement we may reach in our craft, Lord, is nothing compared to Your skill and mastery!

No picture ever painted can ever compare with Your sunset and sunrise, Lord. The dazzling pinks, violets, blues and reds stretch as far as I can see. Sometimes in the summer, I watch the lake mirror the sky, and marvel as the different bends of light dance with the waves, shimmering and brilliant. Landscapes of snowcapped mountains, lakes, marshes, valleys, rivers, plateaus, canyons…all speak of Your infinite creativity!

No music ever written, God, can compare with the sounds of the waves as they crash upon the rocks, or the sweet song of the cardinal, or the rush of wind through the poplar trees. No symphony ever composed can compare to the sounds of spring…the robins, geese and seagulls that shriek, or the mighty timpani of Your thunder!

And oh Lord, how I love the smell of Your rain upon autumn leaves! None can create or imitate such a fragrance as that, or of the apple blossoms and lilacs of spring with the aroma of pine trees and honeysuckle, pennyroyal and moss mingling in the air!

Your writings, God, are poetic, sweet, and heart wrenching. Your’s is the greatest love story ever lived, ever written, ever read. The Protagonist chases His love, suffers magnificently, dies heroically, is revived supernaturally, crushes the enemy, redeems and marries His one true love in the end!

I so appreciate Your artwork, Lord! It is without equal!
